Pakistan showed strong performance in the first session of Day 4. By lunch, their score reached 312/3. Shan Masood batted brilliantly and was nearing 150 runs. Pakistan reduced South Africa’s lead of 421 runs to just 109.
Morning Session Highlights
Nightwatchman Khurram Shahzad played a few great shots early on. Shan Masood started cautiously but later scored runs using the pull shot. Marco Jansen broke the partnership by dismissing Shahzad, giving South Africa their first wicket of the day.
Missed Catch Opportunity
David Bedingham dropped Kamran Ghulam off Jansen’s bowling when Ghulam was on zero.
Rabada’s Excellent Bowling
Kagiso Rabada troubled Ghulam in his first over. Shortly after, he bowled a brilliant delivery to dismiss Ghulam. This wicket marked Rabada’s 50th Test scalp at Newlands.
DRS Misjudgment
Debutant Kwena Maphaka trapped Saud Shakeel LBW. However, South Africa chose not to review the decision. Ball-tracking later showed it would have hit the stumps.
